French Infantry at Quimper-Bourget |
More action from the Franco-Prussian War now. We continued to use the DBACW ruleset, with both sides taking 24 points. The forces would be Advance Guards for the main armies racing towards each other. As such the majority of the points would be on Cavalry & Light Infantry (Sharpshooters in DBACW). Casualties would come in the form of red & yellow counters. Red for 'Shaken' status (-1 modifier) & Yellow for 'Badly Shaken' (-2 modifier). Generals could remove counters, 1 for each PiP spent. Also troop quality would be a factor, Veteran, Trained & Raw troops could be selected.

Final Positions, a Prussian Victory |
A cracking game, the Sharpshooters proved a great success for both sides. Fast moving & hard to kill. Again the DBACW rules worked really well. Getting an extra General for both sides made a big difference. Good PiPs for the Prussians early on made a difference as well. Troop Quality helped out. The extra points for the Prussian Cuirrasiers for example, however the Bavarians won the day & they were only RAW quality. In the right place at the right time.... By the way, Amy took the Prussians - Boo Hiss. Bring on the FieldMarshall PiPPin Von Krum!!!
