Afghan Regular Army 19thCty

Afghan Regulars ready to resist the British Empire.  This bunch are all Irregulars Miniatures from  their 15mm Colonial Range.  We have enough for 8 Bases of Rifles, 4 Afghan Highlanders, 2 Artillery, 2 Skirmishers & 4 Cavalry.  Added to our existing Afghan Tribesmen, I'm sure they'll be a tough opponent....  http://mrfarrow2udba1519k.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/northwest-frontier-tribesmen.html

MrF's War Bunker!

At last MrF & the gear have a new home.  The War Bunker (actually it's a 12' x 10' shed but hey ho) in the humble Fazzy garden.  As much gear as possible has been crammed into it & we have the potential for a nice sized table.  It has took a few months to get it sorted hence the lack of posts.

We used to have the back room in the house until 'She Who Must Be Obeyed!' decided to have a new look in the house.   But now we have 'The Bunker', roll on being able to leave the Lead Heroes set up overnight, no Mindless Moggies, Krazy Weimaraners or Kamikaze Daschunds trashing the joint!

FP2 Skirmish at Quimper-Bourget

French Infantry at Quimper-Bourget
More action from the Franco-Prussian War now.  We continued to use the DBACW ruleset, with both sides taking 24 points.  The forces would be Advance Guards for the main armies racing towards each other.  As such the majority of the points would be on Cavalry & Light Infantry (Sharpshooters in DBACW).  Casualties would come in the form of red & yellow counters.  Red for 'Shaken' status (-1 modifier) & Yellow for 'Badly Shaken' (-2 modifier).   Generals could remove counters, 1 for each PiP spent.  Also troop quality would be a factor, Veteran, Trained & Raw troops could be selected.

French Advance Guard  - 24 Pts
French Advance Guard
1 'Average' General, 4 x Trained Sharpshooters, 1 x Gatling, 2 x Artillery, 2 x Veteran Rifles (Imperial Guard), 4 x Trained Rifles, 4 x Raw Rifles, 5 x Trained Cavalry (Dragoons), 1 x Veteran Cavalry (Cuirassiers), also an extra General (Poor) was purchased.  This gave the French two PiP die rolls.

Prussian Advance Guard - 24 Pts
Prussian Advance Guard
1 'Good' General, 8 x Trained Sharpshooters (Jaegers), 1 x Horse Artillery, 4 x Trained Rifles (Prussian), 4 x Raw Rifles (Bavarians), 4 x Trained Cavalry (Uhlans,Hussars,Dragoons), 2 x Veteran Cavalry (Cuirassiers), also an extra General (Average) was purchased.  This also gave the Prussians two PiP die rolls.

Prussian Initial Moves, Uhlans on the left, Main Body in the centre, Jaegers on the right

Prussian Cavalry lead the way

Hordes of French Dragoons arrive.

The first contact, the French Cavalry has the initiative.

Good PiPs for the Prussians & an explosion of movement

The Battlefield takes shape, the better PiPs for the Prussians.

The Prussian Cavalry get the better of the first contact

Prussian Jaegers on the left....

.....Prussian Jaegers on the right!

The rest of the French finally arrive.

The French guns prove slow to deploy

Another French casualty

Pot shots at the retreating French Dragoons

Another Cavalry action...

The Prussian Cuirassiers destroy some more French Dragoons

The French Imperial Guard go for the farmhouse

The Prussian Horse artillery prove their worth

At last! The French Sharpshooters have an effect.

Charge!!!

The French Mitralleuse (Yes we know it's a Gardner Gun.. SSshhh) gets into position...

Success & Failure for the French Imperial Guard

The main Prussian force is first to get into position

Another one bites the dust....

French Artillery finds its range & forces back the Bavarians.

Sacre Bleau! At last a Prussian casualty....

...and another, a French comeback????

Prussian cavalry plug the gap.

The Prussian Main attack is poised...

The French Imperial Guard take the farmhouse....

The French Sharpshooters take the rough ground...

In go the Prussian Infantry!!!

So do the Bavarians

Ohhh! Back go the Prussians

However the French are slowly forced back....

The Prussian left is stalled...

Some success for the French on the other side of the battlefield.

It's vicious hand to hand combat

The Bavarians win the day!!!

Final Positions, a Prussian Victory
A cracking game, the Sharpshooters proved a great success for both sides.  Fast moving & hard to kill. Again the DBACW rules worked really well.  Getting an extra General for both sides made a big difference.  Good PiPs for the Prussians early on made a difference as well. Troop Quality helped out.  The extra points for the Prussian Cuirrasiers for example, however the Bavarians won the day & they were only RAW quality.  In the right place at the right time....  By the way, Amy took the Prussians - Boo Hiss.  Bring on the FieldMarshall PiPPin Von Krum!!!

HHOOOOOWwwwwwlllll!!!!

What else but a Prussian Victory!!!!
