Polystyrene Cutter, lovely, lovely, lovely....

A recent purchase, a Polystyrene Hot wire Cutter &  I am very impressed with it! Spare cash for those projects is at a premium with everyone at the moment.  We do need some extra large hills, but I've been put off by the prices companies charge.  For a spectacular £20 in steps the Startec Cutter.  A couple of 'AA' batteries are needed & off you go.  The kit comes with 3 wires, one needs attaching & then switch it on.  I am now a man possessed, no polystyrene is safe in the 'Fazzy Mansions!'  Now, where is that paint..?

Here's the link to the Startec Cutter :

DBA 3.0 II/68a Pictish Hordes!

The Savage Hordes put on their War Paint
& headed south to pillage the fair lands of Britain...!

No it's not Waarrgghh Nicola Sturgeon leading the SNP into Westminster, it's the great blue painted Pictish Horde.  The 2nd Army for our Age of Arthur Campaign.....

Picked up a few of these off EBay, the rest we added.  Very heavy with the Mel Gibson warpaint.  A nice touch is the 'purple heather' grass tufts, Tajima1 from EBay

20mm WW1 Turks???

Picked these up at a Bring'n Buy Sale at a recent show.  A spot of paint, some textured bases & there you go.  They're 20mm, sorry but I don't know the manufacturer.  I've got a copy of the Games Workshop 'The Great War' Rules, so I've based them roughly to that set.

We have two 13 Man Arab Squads, one 7 Man Regulars, 2 Light Mg's, 2 Heavy Mg's, two Mortars, one Field Gun and one Command stand.  The single infantry are based on textured 25mm circular MDF bases.  With 35mm, 45mm & 55mm circular based for the bigger pieces.

These are meant to be on the Turkish side.  It's about half the force, I may paint the 2nd half as Arab Revolt Hejaz Corps.

Another DBA II/69b Sassanid Persian Army 220-651AD

Another Sassanid Persian Army for sale.  My super bike is now paid for, so I might start keeping some of the armies I paint!  This army hasn't changed that much from the DBA 2.2. lists.  I went heavy with the 'manly persian pink', worked well.

1x3Cv(Gen), 1x4Kn, 4x3Cv, 1xEl or 3Cv, 1x3Cv or 2Lh, 1x3Cv or 2Ps, 1x2Lh or 3Ax, 2x7Hd, 1 DBA Camp

DBA 3.0 II/81a Sub Roman British - Army of Arthur

Here's the finished Sub Roman Brits, Army of Arthur.  In the end a pleasure to paint. I tried to mimic the look from the supplement, especially the red & white shields.

II/81a Army of Arthur
1 x 3Kn(General), 1x3Cv, 1x3Cv(Welsh Gentry), 1x4Kn(Cataphracts),
2x4Bd(Legionaires), 5x4Sp(Pedyt), 1x2Ps(Archers)

The Kontos/Spears for the horsemen are wire spears attached with epoxy.  The Legionnaires had their soft metal spears removed.  I've added strips of plastic for swords, so they can be easily identified as Blades. The bases finished with 'large' tufts of static grass.

A mighty foe to face?
